Uterine fibroids
Fibroids and fertility
Fibroids are one of the most common benign tumors of the uterus that grow around and inside the uterus. 30% of women have at least one fibroid. Fibroids very rarely evolve into malignancy and are not harmful for the health of women.
Fibroids can affect female fertility, depending on their location in the uterus. If the fibroid is located inside the uterus (submucosal fibroids), fertility is affected and we recommend its removal. However, if the fibroid does not affect the uterine cavity, it has a much lesser effect on its fertility and probably its removal will not be recommended.
What are the uterine fibroids treatment options?
Fibroids are surgically removed by laparoscopy or hysteroscopy.
